Turkish, US presidential advisers discuss regional, global concerns in diplomatic call
Akif Çağatay Kılıç, Chief Adviser to the Turkish President on foreign policy and security matters, held a phone conversation with Mike Waltz, the US President’s National Security Adviser.
The two discussed key issues in bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The conversation also involved an exchange of views on global and regional concerns.
Note that, Türkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will reaffirm Ankara's offer to host peace talks between Ukraine and Russia at a European leaders' meeting in London on March 9, a Turkish diplomatic source revealed.
Türkiye, a NATO member, facilitated initial talks between the two sides after Russia's 2022 invasion, securing a deal for safe grain exports in the Black Sea. Fidan will brief European leaders on Türkiye's efforts to broker a "fair and lasting peace," while reaffirming Ankara's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity.
Türkiye has maintained positive relations with both Ukraine and Russia, providing military support to Kyiv while avoiding Western sanctions on Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently visited Türkiye, highlighting its role as an important security guarantor for Ukraine.
