Türkiye advances space ambitions with Türksat 7A satellite project

Türkiye is set to embark on the next phase of its space exploration and communication initiatives with the completion of preparations for the production of the national satellite, Türksat 7A.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced the development, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.

“We began a new era in space with Türksat 6A, and now it is the turn of Türksat 7A,” Uraloğlu remarked. He highlighted that the upcoming satellite aims to surpass its predecessor in terms of capabilities, reinforcing Türkiye’s growing presence in space exploration and technology.

According to Uraloğlu, Türksat AŞ has already initiated the first steps in the production process for Türksat 7A. The tender for the satellite's production and construction has been finalized, marking a significant milestone in Türkiye’s ambitious space agenda. Uraloğlu emphasized that Türksat 7A will not only bring advanced communication capabilities but also provide a platform to boost Türkiye’s national technology ecosystem.  

“Our primary objective is to ensure that Türksat 7A possesses much more advanced features than Türksat 6A,” he stated. “We are reinforcing our claim to have a voice in space through our new projects.” The satellite is expected to enhance Türkiye’s capacity for global communication, and its development represents a major leap in the country's technological and industrial capabilities.

Uraloğlu also stressed the importance of fostering collaboration between Turkish companies, noting that the businesses involved in the project will directly compete with the world's leading satellite and space companies. This cooperation will be essential to not only the success of Türksat 7A but also the long-term growth of Türkiye’s space and aerospace industry.

The Türksat 7A project is seen as a critical step in strengthening Türkiye’s independence in satellite communications, while also advancing the country’s space exploration capabilities. The satellite is expected to play a key role in the further development of Türkiye's space infrastructure and technological prowess.
