Türkiye arrests more suspects over Istanbul police checkpoint attack
Authorities in Türkiye have arrested additional suspects as part of an ongoing investigation into an attack on a police checkpoint in Istanbul’s Levent district.
The incident took place near the Yapı Kredi Plaza building, and prosecutors continue to examine the case, Caliber.Az reports per TRT Haber.
Three of six recently detained suspects were brought before a criminal court in Istanbul after completing police procedures and undergoing medical examinations. The court ordered all three to be placed in pre-trial detention, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 12.
Officials said two suspects, identified as Onur Çelik and Ahmet İmrak, are still receiving medical treatment, while another individual remains in police custody pending further procedures.
Earlier in the investigation, 12 detainees appeared in court on April 11. Of those, nine were arrested, two were placed under judicial supervision, and one was released following questioning by prosecutors.
