Türkiye battles fierce wildfires in Izmir
A total of 16 fires have broken out in Türkiye's Izmir province, with eight in forests and eight in rural areas.
As of now, 11 of these fires have been brought under control, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
According to officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a substantial firefighting effort is underway, involving 11 airplanes, 27 helicopters, and 171 land vehicles and construction equipment. A total of 972 personnel are engaged in combating the blazes.
The fires, which erupted in the districts of Çeşme, Menderes, Menemen, Selçuk, and Torbalı, have been particularly challenging. Ground teams have been working tirelessly throughout the night to contain and extinguish the flames.
The authorities remain vigilant, with ongoing efforts to fully control and extinguish the remaining fires.
