Türkiye congratulates Azerbaijan on pivotal peace progress in Washington
On August 8, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that Fidan warmly congratulated Azerbaijan on the historic achievements made during the Washington meeting between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Both ministers underlined that the agreements reached — including the joint declaration signed by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the President of the United States acting as a witness — hold significant importance for securing peace and stability in the region.
They highlighted that the initialling of the peace agreement, along with the joint call to abolish the OSCE Minsk Process and its related structures, represents a major step toward lasting peace. Bayramov and Fidan expressed their expectation that the OSCE will soon take a decision to formally dissolve these structures.
The discussion also covered the Azerbaijan–Türkiye alliance and cooperation between the two countries within both regional and international organisations.
