Türkiye delivers first warship to EU, NATO member Romania

Turkish defence company ASFA has delivered the Akhisar offshore patrol vessel, completed in 2023, to the Romanian Navy Command, marking Türkiye’s first sale of a warship to a NATO and European Union member state.

Officials noted that Romania’s acquisition of the Akhisar is expected to bolster regional maritime security and support the modernisation of the Romanian Navy, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media. 

According to the announcement, the vessel’s entry into Romanian service will enhance interoperability within NATO and deepen strategic ties between Ankara and Bucharest.
