Türkiye demands end to PKK activities in Iraq, Syria
The terrorist organisation PKK must also cease its activities in Iraq and Syria, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said.
At a joint press conference with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad, the Turkish minister emphasised that terrorists must leave the territories they have seized, Report informs.
"This is extremely important for regional stability and security, and to prevent foreign interference," Fidan stressed.
In July 2025, the PKK declared a unilateral ceasefire and began partial pullbacks from border areas. Turkish military operations in northern Iraq's Qandil Mountains (the PKK's main base) were scaled back in response, creating space for dialogue.
On October 26, the PKK announced its complete withdrawal from Türkiye. The organisation operates in Syria under the name YPG/PYD.
