Türkiye denounces Houthi maritime blockade threats against Saudi Arabia
Türkiye has condemned threats by Yemen's Houthi movement to impose a maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its solidarity with Riyadh and calling for an immediate end to actions that threaten maritime security in the Red Sea.
In a statement issued on Thursday (July 23), Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said any actions or threats undermining the security of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, or targeting shipping and global trade, must cease immediately.
The ministry warned that such actions risk disrupting international trade and further destabilising the region.
Türkiye also urged all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from taking steps that could lead to further escalation, reiterating its support for regional stability and the security of key international shipping routes.
