Türkiye detaines 15 suspects in Istanbul over alleged ISIS links
Turkish law enforcement authorities have detained, in Istanbul, fifteen people suspected of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) during an operation targeting the terrorist group.
The operation was carried out by the Istanbul Police Department’s Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence units, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Investigators reportedly identified individuals allegedly connected to ISIS who had previously taken part in the group’s activities.
It was also found that they had shared materials supporting al-Qaeda on social media.
Raids were conducted at several addresses overnight on Saturday as part of the operation, resulting in the detention of all 15 suspects.
During searches of their residences, police seized a large number of digital devices and electronic materials.
The detainees were taken to Istanbul’s counter-terrorism police headquarters, and investigative procedures are ongoing.
