Turkish authorities carried out an operation targeting the terrorist organisation ISIS in the southern city of Adana, resulting in the detention of 12 suspects, including six foreign nationals, officials said.
The Adana Provincial Police Department’s Anti-Terrorism Unit (TEM) identified the individuals, some of whom were members of sleeper cells, based on statements from a previously detained suspect, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Investigations indicated that several of the suspects had participated in armed activities in Syria, while others were involved in recruiting for the organisation.
Police conducted simultaneous raids on multiple addresses in the Yuregir and Seyhan districts with the support of special forces.
During the operation, authorities seized a significant amount of digital material and detained all 12 suspects for further questioning.
