Türkiye detains 15 over suspected stock market manipulation

Fifteen people have been detained in Istanbul as part of an investigation into suspected financial manipulation on the Borsa İstanbul (BİST) stock exchange.

Security officers carried out simultaneous searches and detentions on September 21, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Investigators said financial police and capital market regulators had identified unusual transactions involving shares in several companies, as well as signs of attempts to artificially influence the value of stocks and investment funds.

The suspects were taken to the Istanbul Police Department headquarters for questioning and other procedural proceedings.
