Türkiye detains 21 in four-city MLKP terror operation
Authorities in Türkiye have detained 21 suspects in a coordinated operation across four provinces targeting the armed terrorist organisation, the Marxist–Leninist Communist Party (MLKP).
According to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, investigations into the MLKP’s activities identified 33 suspects whose names emerged during statements provided under effective remorse provisions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
Of these, seven are believed to be abroad and two are currently in prison, prompting detention orders for the remaining 24.
The operation, carried out simultaneously at 22 addresses in Istanbul as well as in Antalya, İzmir, and Sivas, resulted in the arrest of 21 individuals.
Searches of the locations uncovered firearms, shotguns, magazines, ammunition, narcotics, and a significant quantity of digital material.
Authorities continue efforts to apprehend the three suspects who remain at large.
