Türkiye detains 473 suspects across 25 provinces in cybercrime crackdown

Turkish authorities have detained 473 suspects in a nationwide cybercrime operation across 25 provinces, with a court ordering 286 of them to be remanded in custody and placing 92 others under judicial control, according to Türkiye’s Interior Ministry.

The operation was coordinated by the Interior Ministry, the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate of Security, the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), and the chief public prosecutor’s offices of the provinces involved, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

The detainees are accused of qualified fraud, organising illegal gambling and betting activities, distributing child pornography, hacking mobile banking systems, and laundering criminal proceeds.

According to investigators, the suspects created phishing websites, defrauded citizens by posing as landlords demanding rent, tax authorities collecting payments, and sellers requesting car deposits, hacked gaming and bank accounts, and conducted illicit financial transactions for illegal bookmakers.
