Türkiye detains head of traders’ association in bribery investigation
An investigation is underway in Türkiye into an alleged bribery case involving a traders’ association in Bolu province.
According to TRT Haber, the gendarmerie detained the head of the Bolu Traders’ and Artisans’ Association Credit Guarantee Cooperative and the Markets Traders’ Association, Mustafa Altundal, along with two employees of the organisations.
Following questioning at the prosecutor’s office, the suspects were brought before a court. The court ordered the arrest of Altundal and another suspect, Mesut Kalafat, while a third suspect was released under judicial supervision.
As part of the operation, gendarmerie conducted searches at the suspects’ homes, vehicles, and offices of the organisations, seizing a number of documents that investigators say may be relevant to the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
