Türkiye detains more than 50 people in tender fraud investigation
Turkish authorities have detained 57 people as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in public procurement processes, according to reports.
The case concerns tenders involving the company “Bosporus Facility Management Services”, which is linked to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). Investigators allege that some procurement procedures may have been pre-arranged, with possible violations of the law during tender processes, including suspected collusion.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting the investigation under a case involving an alleged “profit-oriented criminal organisation” connected to municipal activities involving figures associated with Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
In a simultaneous operation carried out across six provinces — including Istanbul, Adana, Bursa, Diyarbakır, Konya, and Yalova — the 57 suspects were detained and taken into police custody for further questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
