Türkiye develops domestic PD170 engines for Bayraktar TB3 PHOTO
The domestic engines of Bayraktar TB3, which was developed by Baykar and can be deployed on the domestic TCG Anadolu ship thanks to its foldable wing technology, were delivered.
PD170 turbodiesel engines were delivered by TUSAŞ Engine Industry Inc. (TEI), according to Techno Pixel.
The engines we have developed are the best engines in their class in the world at altitude, there is no other UAV engine in this class that exceeds 30000 ft. AKSUNGUR has exceeded 30000 ft with our engines and these are really low-burning engines, our engine stayed in the air for 49 hours with AKSUNGUR. Finally, we delivered our engines from this PD170 series for TB3, and Baykar Defense is busy with their integration,” TEI General Manager Prof. Dr Mahmut Faruk Aksit said.
Aksit made the remarks at the SAHA Defence, Aviation and Space Industry Expo held in Istanbul Expo Centre.
It will make its first flight in 2022.
Bayraktar TB3 will have a take-off weight of 1450 kg. It will be able to fly nonstop for 24 hours. Its wings will be foldable so that it will take up less space on the ship. Bayraktar will stand out with its short runway take-off capability and higher payload capacity than the TB2. Bayraktar TB3 will make its first flight this year.
