Türkiye fights two wildfires as strong winds fuel flames in Adana PHOTO

Authorities are working to bring two forest fires under control in the Kozan district of Türkiye’s Adana province.

Aviation and ground crews have been deployed to fight the blazes. One fire broke out for an unknown reason in the rural area of Doğanalanı, while a second blaze erupted in the Dağılcak area as crews were battling the first, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

Strong winds have caused the flames to spread rapidly, prompting precautionary evacuations from several settlements.

Firefighting helicopters and specialised equipment have been deployed, while efforts to contain both fires are continuing.

The latest fires come amid continued wildfire risks in Türkiye. In late July 2026, more than 100 wildfires were reported across the country’s southern and western provinces, prompting widespread evacuations and the deployment of large-scale firefighting resources.

The most serious fires at the time were reported in Antalya’s Kaş district, Muğla’s Seydikemer area and parts of Balıkesir. Hundreds of people were evacuated, including 703 residents from 408 homes in Seydikemer, while 45 hospital patients were transferred and dozens of buildings were damaged or destroyed.

Extreme heat, low humidity and strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fires, prompting authorities to deploy large-scale aerial and ground resources, including dozens of aircraft and helicopters and thousands of personnel.
