Türkiye: Fire erupts in central Eskişehir hotel, over 150 evacuated
A fire broke out in a hotel restaurant in central Eskişehir, Türkiye, forcing the evacuation of 152 people.
Two hotel staff members were treated in hospital after being affected by smoke, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The blaze began around 10:30 local time in the kitchen of a restaurant located on the ground floor of a hotel at the intersection of İsmet İnönü-1 Street and Hacı Hüsnü Street in the Yenibağlar district.
Smoke from the fire spread to nearby businesses and parts of the hotel, prompting the sounding of alarms. Guests were evacuated safely, with bystanders covering their mouths and noses to avoid inhaling smoke.
Police, health services, and fire crews responded promptly. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread further. The two affected hotel employees were taken to Yunus Emre State Hospital, where their condition was reported as non-critical.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
