Türkiye: Firefighting plane crashes into lake Both Pilots Survive / Video

A firefighting aircraft has crashed into Lake Seyhan in southern Türkiye while attempting to collect water to battle a forest blaze.

Remarkably, both pilots on board—one of them a foreign national—have survived the incident and are in stable condition, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.

The Governor of Adana Province, Yavuz Selim Köşger, confirmed the crash to reporters on June 19.

“The aircraft was on a mission to extinguish a forest fire when it went down during a water scooping manoeuvre,” Governor Köşger stated. “Both pilots were rescued and promptly taken to the hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, their condition is good.”

The crash highlights the extreme risks faced by aerial firefighting crews operating under intense conditions. The fact that both aviators escaped unharmed is nothing short of extraordinary.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is expected to be launched immediately.
