Türkiye - indispensable architect of negotiation processes, says defence chief
Turkish National Defence Minister Yasar Guler has said that modern Türkiye is a global player and one of the indispensable architects of international negotiation processes.
He made the remarks at a meeting with Turkish Chief of General Staff Metin Gurak and commanders of the branches of the army, according to Azertag.
According to Guler, Türkiye’s defining role was manifested, in particular, in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict and ending the civil war in Libya.
"To date, Ankara has been making diplomatic efforts to resolve the controversies in the Middle East, sending humanitarian aid to conflict zones, seeking to end the bloodshed in Ukraine and, as a result, overcoming the energy and food crises. All these are valuable initiatives undertaken by our country under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the Turkish minister said.
He said the scope of the Turkish Armed Forces' missions abroad is expanding amid Ankara's growing authority in the international arena.
The defence minister drew attention to the uncertainty, increasing tension zones and crises in the world, including near Türkiye’s borders.
"The Turkish army today also continues to actively fight terrorists in northern Iraq and Syria. We will not allow the formation of a status quo that infringes on Türkiye’s interests," Guler assured.
