Türkiye, Indonesia seek deeper cooperation, target $10 billion in bilateral trade

03 June 2026 15:21

Türkiye and Indonesia have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and achieving a trade volume target of $10 billion, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said following high-level meetings in Jakarta.

Fidan visited Indonesia after a trip to Singapore and was received by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. He also held talks with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Speaking after the meetings, Fidan described the discussions as productive and focused on strengthening cooperation across a range of sectors, including defense industries, energy, transportation, artificial intelligence, and halal-certified products.

"We thoroughly evaluated projects that will help us achieve the $10 billion trade volume target set by our president and President Subianto," Fidan said.

The Turkish foreign minister noted that both countries are prepared to deepen their partnership and deliver concrete results in the years ahead.

In addition to economic and technological cooperation, the talks covered regional and international issues. The two sides exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the evolving strategic landscape in the Asia-Pacific region.

Fidan also emphasised that Ankara and Jakarta would continue coordinating their positions on the Palestinian issue, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the two predominantly Muslim nations on key international matters.
