Türkiye inducts another long-range SİPER air defence missile system
Türkiye has added another long-range SİPER surface-to-air missile system to its arsenal, the head of the country’s Defence Industry Agency, Professor Dr Haluk Görgün, announced on January 5, according to Defence Turk.
Görgün shared the news via his social media accounts, confirming that deliveries under the national air defence project “Steel Dome” (ÇELİK KUBBE) continue without interruption.
The latest SİPER-1 unit completed live-fire tests as part of the autonomous battery acceptance procedure. The trials simulated a complex scenario with both manoeuvring friendly and hostile aerial targets present simultaneously.
During the exercises, the system successfully intercepted its target, demonstrating the long-range interception capability and high operational readiness of SİPER-1.
Professor Görgün highlighted that Türkiye is steadily strengthening its armed forces with strategically important systems developed domestically and now in serial production. He added that each new delivery practically enhances the deterrence capacity of the Steel Dome system.
The defence chief expressed his gratitude to specialists from ASELSAN and ROKETSAN, the Ministry of National Defence, personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces, and the staff of the Defence Industry Agency for their contributions to the project.
