Türkiye intensifies anti-terror campaign across Syria, border regions
The Turkish Armed Forces continue their determined and relentless fight against terrorism, protecting the country’s borders and ensuring national defence and security on land, at sea, and in the air.
Head of the Defence Ministry’s press service, Zeki Aktürk, said that during ongoing reconnaissance and operational activities in terrorist hideouts, shelters, and caves discovered in the Pençe-Kilit operation zone, Caliber.Az reports citing a post on the Turkish Defence Ministry’s X page.
Weapons, ammunition, mines, and improvised explosive devices were seized and rendered unusable.
“The total length of tunnels destroyed in the Tel Rifaat and Manbij areas of Syria has reached 702 kilometres,” the statement reads.
Over the past week, 281 individuals attempting to cross the border illegally were detained, while 827 others were prevented from doing so.
Since January 1, the number of people apprehended for illegal border crossing has reached 8,024.
Additionally, during search operations conducted this week at the Hatay border, authorities confiscated 2,440 anti-aircraft rounds, 40 grenades, 37 detonators, an AK-47 rifle, an RPG-7 launcher, and 3.384 kilograms of narcotics.
