Türkiye intercepts suspicious shipment linked to Mossad attacks in Lebanon PHOTO
Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) has intercepted a suspicious cargo shipment at Istanbul Airport containing devices reportedly identical to those used in last year’s pager-based attacks in Lebanon, orchestrated by Israel’s Mossad.
The shipment arrived in Istanbul from Hong Kong on September 16, 2024, and was scheduled for transshipment to Lebanon on September 27—just two days before the attacks, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The cargo included 1,300 units of Gold Apollo 924 R3 GP Model pagers operating on 450–470 MHz, along with 26 boxes containing related components such as BC-144N 710 desktop chargers, charging cables, and lithium battery packs.
Although labeled as “food processors,” the consignment raised red flags among Turkish intelligence and customs officers. The Istanbul Police Department’s bomb disposal unit was called in to examine the shipment, uncovering what they described as potentially lethal modifications. Inside the sealed battery compartments of the pagers, investigators discovered a white, highly flammable and fast-burning substance suspected to be an explosive, weighing approximately 3 grams per unit.
Authorities warned that under certain conditions—such as exposure to intense signal frequencies or activation commands—the devices could overheat and detonate, posing a serious risk of injury or death. A similar mechanism was detected in 710 of the desktop chargers, which bore the label Desktop Charger BC-144N, as well as in associated cables and battery accessories, further intensifying security concerns.
