Türkiye, Jordan pledge support for Syria's new authorities in stability efforts VIDEO

06 January 2025 19:18

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Türkiye and Jordan agreed to support the new Syrian authorities in establishing an inclusive government and ensuring stability.

Fidan made these remarks following talks in Ankara with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Hussein Safadi, Caliber.Az reports, citing the foreign ministry’s message on X.

"We emphasised the importance of ensuring stability in Syria and agreed that we must support the new authorities both internationally and regionally, including in the creation of an inclusive government. We also discussed how to convey our views on the necessary steps to quickly stabilise the country and render essential services. We agreed to be fully supportive of the Syrian people and government, and exchanged opinions on cooperation regarding Syria's reconstruction," he said.

Turkish Minister of National Defence Yasar Guler and Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalın also attended the talks with the delegation led by Safadi.

Fidan and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi also discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Fidan discussed Ankara’s cooperation with Jordan in the fields of defence, counterterrorism, and defence industry, as well as express satisfaction with the close collaboration between the two countries.

The discussions focused on potential actions the IS could take in the current context and how both countries, along with their regional partners, could coordinate their tactical and strategic responses.
