Türkiye launches investigation into Ankara mayor over multi-million concert spending

Türkiye’s Interior Ministry has authorised an investigation into Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavaş and his private secretary, Nevzat Uzunoğlu, over allegations of abuse of office and failure to exercise supervisory duties linked to spending on municipal concerts.

According to broadcaster NTV, an official report prepared by the relevant authorities claims that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality incurred losses amounting to 154,453,221.60 lira (approximately $ 3.71 million) during the procurement of services for 32 concerts.

Responding to the decision, Yavaş said he would exercise all his legal rights and lodge an objection with the Council of State, Türkiye’s highest administrative court.
