Türkiye launches major anti-drug operation, 264 suspects detained PHOTO

A large-scale anti-drug operation has been carried out across 35 provinces in Türkiye, resulting in the detention of 264 suspects, the Turkish Interior Ministry has stated.

The ministry said during the operation, 653 kilograms of various narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as 410,412 narcotic pills, were seized, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

In addition, 1,229,000 cannabis and skunk plants grown illegally were destroyed.

By court order, 172 suspects were remanded in custody, while judicial control measures were imposed on the remaining 92.

According to the investigation, the suspects operated as part of organised groups, sold drugs through messaging apps and social media, and were also involved in the illegal cultivation of plants used to produce narcotics.
