13 August 2026 11:14

Ankara prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for 49 suspects as part of an investigation into an alleged criminal organisation whose members include Alihan Kuriş, the leader of the influential Suleymancılar religious community.

The operation is being carried out simultaneously in 17 provinces across Türkiye. Searches have been conducted at 123 locations, including the premises of 33 companies, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Law enforcement authorities are also examining materials from Türkiye’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK). In particular, they are investigating allegations that more than 100 billion Turkish lira ($2.09 billion) was transferred abroad through individuals and companies linked to the group. Measures have been taken to seize and confiscate a number of companies and assets.

Alihan Kuriş is a Turkish businessman and leader of the Süleymancılar religious movement, which he has headed since 2016.

The Suleymancılar (Süleymancılar) are an influential Turkish religious movement known for its network of dormitories and religious educational institutions, as well as an extensive social and commercial infrastructure.
