Türkiye has been engaged in a long-standing conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which it considers a terrorist organisation.
The PKK has been active in southeastern Türkiye and northern Iraq, where it has established bases and carried out attacks against Turkish targets.
Türkiye's military operations in northern Iraq aim to eliminate PKK strongholds and prevent cross-border attacks, contributing to the broader regional effort to stabilize and secure the area.
