Türkiye neutralises highly dangerous “red category” terrorist

15 August 2024 09:27

Türkiye's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has written that the Turkish security forces neutralised a terrorist of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) listed in the "red category" of highly dangerous criminals.

"PKK terrorist Seyran Comak, who operated under the code name 'Berwar,' has been neutralised in Agrı. He was personally involved in 16 terrorist attacks that resulted in the deaths of 29 people," Caliber.Az reports citing Yerlikaya’s message on X.

Türkiye has been engaged in a long-standing conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which it considers a terrorist organisation.

The PKK has been active in southeastern Türkiye and northern Iraq, where it has established bases and carried out attacks against Turkish targets.

Türkiye's military operations in northern Iraq aim to eliminate PKK strongholds and prevent cross-border attacks, contributing to the broader regional effort to stabilize and secure the area.
