The Turkish authorities use the term "neutralise" to indicate that the terrorists in question were either killed, captured, or surrendered. The PKK is known to use northern Iraq, close to the Turkish border, as a refuge from which to plan terrorist attacks against Türkiye.
During its 40-year campaign of terror against Türkiye, the PKK – designated a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children, infants, and the elderly.
