Türkiye offers Hungary its multiple launch rocket systems PHOTO

Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank has said that Ankara is ready to discuss with Budapest options for the supply of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) as an alternative to the American HIMARS.

He made the statement in Hungary, where he participated with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in a bilateral commission meeting on economic cooperation, DefenceTurk reports.

"I do not know whether Hungary will take steps to purchase HIMARS, but I will say the following: in Türkiye we produce alternative systems. If Hungary has a corresponding need, we are ready to provide the necessary support in this context," the minister said.

Szijjarto, in response to this, explained that when considering options for purchasing weapons for his army, Hungary, of course, first turns to NATO allies, including Turkey. Regarding the options for the purchase of MLRS, he said that there are proposals at the evaluation stage, which is first conducted by the Defence Ministry and then by the government.

ROKETSAN can meet various MLRS needs with missiles of different calibres (122 mm, 230 mm, 300 mm) that can be used on the same launch platform. The TRG-230 and TRG-300 missiles can be considered an alternative to the 227 mm M-30 missiles used by HIMARS. The TRG-230 is a closer replacement for the M-31 missiles, the launcher can be carried up to 12 (2×6) TRG-230. At that time, the TRG-300 missiles have a long range and a warhead and carry 4 TRG-300 missiles.
