Türkiye pushes Gaza mediation as intelligence chief meets Hamas leader
Head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organisation (MİT), İbrahim Kalın, met with Khalil al-Hayya, chairman of Hamas's political bureau, in Istanbul.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the transition to the second phase of the Gaza plan, as well as the mediation efforts of Türkiye, Qatar and Egypt aimed at securing a ceasefire, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza also featured prominently in the talks, with Türkiye reaffirming its continued support for the enclave both in advancing the political process and in improving the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Hamas delegation, in turn, expressed its gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Ankara's efforts to help achieve peace in Gaza.
