Türkiye reveals main expectations from President-elect Trump
Spokesperson of Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Omer Celik, has outlined the country’s key expectations from incoming US President Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration on January 20.
In a statement, Celik emphasized that Türkiye’s primary concern is the resolution of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
“Our main expectation is an end to the war in Gaza,” Celik stated, reflecting Türkiye’s longstanding position on the region.
Additionally, Celik expressed Türkiye’s desire for an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. "Of course, we are also waiting for the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war," he said, underscoring the importance of regional stability for Türkiye.
Celik also reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to cooperating with whichever party holds power in the US, stating, “For Türkiye, it did not matter who would win the US elections—Republicans or Democrats. We had declared our readiness to work with either of them even before the results were announced.”
As President Trump prepares to take office, Turkey’s diplomatic expectations reflect its focus on resolving pressing regional issues and maintaining strong bilateral relations with the United States.
