The HÜRJET jet trainer and light attack aircraft (work on it began at TUSAŞ in 2017 and it is Türkiye's first manned jet aircraft) has made its 10th flight since the start of testing.
The flight control system, air data system, and systems of the aircraft were successfully tested, remaining in the air for a total of 6 hours and 16 minutes. The second test pilot took part in the last flight of the HÜRJET trainer and light attack aircraft, making his first flight in this context.
Temel Kotil, CEO of TUSAŞ, shared his views on this:
"Almost every week we conduct test flights, gathering important data in the air. A second test pilot has taken his place at HÜRJET today, opening up new horizons for flight operations. We will make a significant contribution to the training of many Turkish fighter pilots in the future with the training aircraft we will deliver to the Turkish Armed Forces and they will soon go into mass production," he said.
The first delivery of the HÜRJET attack aircraft is scheduled for 2025, and it is designed to play a crucial role, using its excellent flight characteristics with a single-engine, tandem cabin and modern avionics.
The HÜRJET will replace the existing Northrop T-38 Talon jets in service with the Turkish Air Force. It is possible that the new attack aircraft will also enter service with the Turkish Navy and will be Türkiye's first carrier-based attack aircraft.
The aircraft will have 7 stations, three under wing and one under fuselage, and payloads can be attached to them.
