Türkiye shuts down hundreds of social media accounts linked to FETÖ

Turkish authorities have identified 379 social media accounts affiliated with the Fethullahist Terrorist Organisation (FETÖ) as part of a comprehensive digital monitoring initiative, the Presidency of Communications announced.

According to Burhanettin Duran, Head of Communications for the Republic of Türkiye, the accounts were found to be spreading terrorist propaganda and disinformation, Caliber.Az reports.

Following the investigation, Turkish authorities said immediate action was taken, including access blocks and the initiation of legal procedures against the accounts, in coordination with relevant national institutions.

Duran emphasised that the government continues to combat terrorism both on the ground and online under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He added that there will be no tolerance for terrorist organisations, their networks, or digital perception operations targeting the country.
