Türkiye signals support for Armenia-EU integration via cross-border cooperation VIDEO
Fatma Aksal, a senior official within Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) and a member of parliament representing Edirne, has expressed strong support for renewed regional cooperation, positioning Türkiye as a potential conduit between Armenia and Europe.
Speaking during a visit to Yerevan, Aksal underscored the broader benefits of regional peace and the importance of reopening borders, Caliber.Az reports.
“Peace will benefit all of us. We hope for the swift opening of borders,” she stated.
Highlighting Türkiye’s potential geopolitical role, Aksal remarked, “Türkiye can serve as a bridge between Armenia and Europe. We will help Armenia establish a more direct connection with Europe.”
Her comments come at a time of cautious optimism surrounding Armenia-Türkiye relations, amid broader discussions about regional integration and post-conflict normalization in the South Caucasus.
Aksal is currently attending the Rose-Roth seminar, organized by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and held in Yerevan. The event brings together legislators and experts to discuss pressing regional security and political issues, including avenues for peacebuilding and cross-border cooperation.
