Türkiye signs $7 billion deal for 20 Eurofighter jets

30 October 2025 14:57

Türkiye has signed a £5.4 billion ($7.12 billion) contract with the United Kingdom for the purchase of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, along with associated equipment and munitions.

The deal was confirmed by Zeki Aktürk, spokesperson for Türkiye’s Ministry of Defence, who said the procurement is part of efforts to meet the operational requirements of the country’s Air Force Command.

“The contract, signed on October 27, covers new production Eurofighter Typhoons, combat equipment, and various types and quantities of munitions,” Aktürk said.

Moreover, Türkiye also secured an agreement with Qatar to acquire 12 Typhoon Tranche 3A jets with AESA radars, aimed at enhancing training and operational infrastructure for the Turkish Air Force. This phased approach allows personnel to begin training before the arrival of Tranche 4 jets from the UK.

Discussions are also ongoing with Oman for additional Typhoon aircraft, potentially further expanding Türkiye’s fleet. Integration of Turkish-made munitions into the Eurofighters has been confirmed, ensuring operational independence.

If all deals are finalised, Türkiye’s Eurofighter fleet could reach 52 jets, making it NATO’s fifth-largest operator. Combined with the modernised F-16 Özgür / Block 70T fleet, these acquisitions will strengthen Türkiye’s regional air dominance until the fifth-generation KAAN fighter becomes operational.
