Türkiye steps up efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza

28 November 2023 12:25

Türkiye continues its efforts to ensure access to humanitarian aid for residents of the Gaza Strip.

Ankara is currently completing preparatory work aimed at facilitating the delivery of food and the creation of a field hospital in the Palestinian exclave, according to Anadolu.

According to diplomatic sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the process of evacuating Turkish citizens from Gaza, which has slowed down somewhat due to the humanitarian pause, will be intensified soon.

So far, Ankara has evacuated some 500 citizens of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) from Gaza through active diplomatic efforts.

Türkiye is promoting the formation of an appropriate logistics infrastructure in Egypt to ensure the further shipment of thousands of tonnes of food aid donated by the Turkish side from this country to the Gaza Strip.

To this end, talks are underway between representatives of the Turkish and Egyptian authorities.

Turkish authorities are also working to deliver special container homes that will provide shelter for Gaza families as the cold weather approaches.

Turkish representatives are conducting a feasibility study to create container towns in Gaza. It is planned to cooperate with Qatar on this issue, as well as on the delivery of humanitarian aid from Turkey to Gaza.

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Yasin Ekrem Serim and Deputy Interior Minister Munir Karaloglu visited Egypt to discuss ways to provide additional humanitarian assistance to the population of Gaza and conduct on-site inspections in connection with the evacuation of Turkish citizens from the exclave.
