The officials convened to assess the ongoing situation triggered by Israel’s strikes and to evaluate potential repercussions for Türkiye.
Fidan emphasised that Türkiye’s President is closely monitoring developments and receiving regular updates. “Relevant institutions, under the instructions of the President, are taking all necessary measures according to possible scenarios concerning our country,” he stated.
Since the onset of the crisis, Türkiye has maintained close diplomatic contact with several countries in the region, including Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and the United States, aiming to manage tensions and promote dialogue.
The Foreign Minister criticised Israel’s actions, highlighting the country’s destabilising impact on the region: “Israel, which has caused a humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, driven Lebanon into instability, moved towards occupation in Syria, and today targeted Iran, must abandon its strategy aimed at destabilising the region without delay.”
Fidan also warned against allowing escalating tensions to overshadow the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, calling for renewed diplomatic efforts: “Advancing the process initiated by U.S. President Mr. Trump regarding nuclear negotiations is the only way to resolve the disputes arising from the nuclear disagreement. Diplomacy is the only alternative to war.”
