Türkiye, Syria, Russia, Iran to discuss road map in coming days
Representatives of Türkiye, Syria, Russia and Iran will hold a meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers in the coming days to discuss the preparation of a road map for the normalisation of relations between Ankara and Damascus, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.
"Representatives of the four countries at the level of deputy foreign ministers will meet in the coming days and work to prepare a road map for the normalisation process. This issue was discussed in a recent phone conversation with [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov," Cavusoglu said on May 26, TASS reports.
As reported by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the ministers discussed the Syrian settlement in a telephone conversation on May 24.
At the talks between the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Iran, Syria and Türkiye on the Syrian issue and the normalisation of relations between Ankara and Damascus on May 10 in Moscow, the parties, in particular, discussed the issues of the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, as well as the settlement in Syria based on the UN Security Council's resolution. The parties decided to form a special committee to develop a roadmap for normalization, which will include the return of refugees.
