Türkiye tests Bozdoğan, Gökdoğan missiles PHOTO/VIDEO

An important step was taken within the GÖKTUĞ project initiated by the Defense Industry Directorate to meet the needs of the Turkish Air Force Command.

BOZDOĞAN and GÖKDOĞAN missiles have been successfully tested, Defence Turk wrote on its social media page X, Caliber.Az reports.

"The verification tests of our Bozdoğan and Gökdoğan missiles have been completed. Now our missiles are ready for acceptance tests. In the next stage, we will test the warhead and provide them to our Air Force. The safety of the sky is entrusted to our defence industry," Head of the Turkish Defence Industry Haluk Görgün said after the successful tests.

The contract for Project GÖKTUĞ was signed between the Ministry of Research and Development, Ministry of National Defense and TÜBİTAK SAGE on December 14, 2012 in accordance with the Air Force Command's air-to-air missile needs and was transferred to the Defense Industry Directorate in November 2016.

The current contract for the GÖKTUĞ project includes the design and development of the missile in two different configurations for F-16 PO-I aircraft: "within visual contact" (BOZDOĞAN-GİF) and "beyond visual contact" (GÖKDOĞAN -GÖF), finalization of qualification and delivery of prototypes.

"Contract for the integration of GÖKTUĞ into F-16 PO-III and delivery of small-scale initial production" is prepared for the integration of BOZDOĞAN and GÖKDOĞAN missiles into 25 aircraft and F-16 PO-III according to the needs of the Air Force Command. It was signed in July 2023.
