Türkiye tests new launch system for HİSAR-D RF missile PHOTO/VIDEO

06 November 2025 15:31

Turkish defence company Roketsan has successfully conducted test firings, destroying a low-flying target with the HİSAR-D RF surface-to-air missile.

In a post on the SavunmaSanayiST X page, the missile was shown striking an aerial target simulating an anti-ship missile flying at low altitude during the trials, once again demonstrating a new stage in the development of Türkiye’s air defence capabilities, Caliber.Az reports.

The missile was launched from a ground-based system using the MİDLAS container, while the sensors used to adjust its flight path were not visible.

The ground launcher equipped with the MİDLAS container features several characteristics indicating the possible development of a land-based MİDLAS variant. These include a hydraulic lifting mechanism and a design that appears to accommodate multiple MİDLAS containers. It is also evident that this launcher lacks the exhaust system found in the standard MİDLAS module, with exhaust gases released directly to the rear.

Roketsan is known to be planning a ground-based MİDLAS system for the protection of bases, ports, and other areas, as stated in the company’s product catalogue. The modular launcher with the MİDLAS interface (fire-control system and common containers) can be quickly configured for air defence at various ranges, as well as for potential offensive use with cruise missiles.

HİSAR-D RF is an advanced version of the medium-range HİSAR-O RF surface-to-air missile equipped with an active radar seeker. It has a range of more than 40 km and can reach altitudes above 15 km.

The missile uses a dual-pulse rocket motor to ensure a high probability of interception in the terminal phase through activation of a second igniter.

Earlier, successful test firings of the HİSAR-D RF from the I-class frigate TCG İstanbul (F-515) were carried out against a high-altitude target.
