Türkiye to classify schools by risk level after shooting incidents
Schools in Türkiye will be classified according to risk levels following recent shooting incidents, with the strictest security measures to be applied in the highest-risk institutions.
The measure is outlined in a circular issued by the Ministry of Interior, as reported by Anadolu Agency.
“At the beginning of each academic year, and upon request from a school coordinator or security officer, a risk and threat assessment will be conducted. Schools identified as high-risk by state institutions will be prioritized and subject to additional security measures,” the circular states.
The plan also foresees continuous operational data sharing between school administrations, law enforcement agencies, local authorities, and social services.
Criteria for assessing educational institutions include student behavior, reports from teachers, and social media posts.
