The remaining 20 will be produced specifically for Türkiye. The initial deliveries are expected to begin in 2026, with full operational capability anticipated by 2030. The Eurofighter Typhoon is a supersonic, fourth-generation fighter jet manufactured by a European consortium consisting of Germany, the UK, Italy and Spain.
The Eurofighter Typhoons purchased by Türkiye will be equipped with French-made Meteor missiles, considered among the most advanced air-to-air missiles in the world.
Developed by MBDA, the Meteor missile has a range of over 100 kilometres and utilizes a ramjet engine, allowing it to maintain speed over long distances. With its active radar homing system, the Meteor can track and engage targets even while they are maneuvering, and it can strike targets beyond visual range.
This capability ensures the launching aircraft remains at a safe distance. Additionally, the Meteor missile has the ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously. The UK has successfully secured France's approval to include the Meteor missiles in the delivery to Türkiye.
