Türkiye to send top officials to Pakistan for talks on Islamabad–Kabul normalisation
Türkiye will send the foreign minister, defence minister, and intelligence chief to Pakistan to discuss the normalisation of relations between Islamabad and Kabul.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced this while speaking to journalists on his return from Azerbaijan, which he visited on November 8.
“Our mediation efforts are proceeding positively at this stage. We hope the outcome will be favourable, and most likely this week our Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, and National Intelligence Organisation Director İbrahim Kalın will visit Pakistan. They will discuss these [conflict resolution] issues,” the Turkish leader said.
He expressed hope that through contacts in Islamabad, Ankara would be able to successfully conclude the negotiation process that began earlier in Doha. “We hope for a permanent ceasefire and peace, and we continue to call on both sides to exercise restraint,” Erdoğan emphasised.
