Türkiye to strengthen digital security measures after school attacks

17 April 2026 12:10

Turkish authorities plan to strengthen digital security measures following armed attacks in schools.

According to CNN Türk, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi made the statement while commenting on a comprehensive policy aimed at protecting students.

“The recent events show that school security is not limited to physical measures. Digital content that affects the mental and emotional state of our children, social isolation, and the weakening of family ties are important components of this issue. In this situation, our state is actively acting: on the ground through security services, in schools through educational and counselling mechanisms, and in social policy by supporting families,” Çiftçi said.

The minister said that measures are planned against content on digital platforms that encourages violence and normalises criminal behaviour. Monitoring of the online environment will also be strengthened, along with awareness-raising efforts aimed at ensuring children’s safe presence in the digital space.
