Türkiye warns Greece: Armed forces ready to counter any threat

04 December 2025 15:20

The Turkish Ministry of National Defence has responded firmly to recent statements by Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias, who claimed that Türkiye poses a threat and plans missile deployments across the Aegean islands. Zeki Aktürk, spokesperson for the ministry, noted that while Türkiye seeks peace and stability in the region, its armed forces remain fully capable and determined to neutralize any threats to national security.

Aktürk emphasized that Türkiye closely monitors all regional developments, including the military activities of neighboring Greece, Caliber.Az reports.

"As we have always emphasized, ensuring peace and stability in our region, including the Aegean Sea, is a fundamental priority for our country. We are fulfilling our obligations in this regard. We expect Greece to adopt the same constructive stance," Aktürk said.

He criticized the rhetoric of certain Greek officials, noting that attempts to escalate tensions and unfounded statements contradicting international agreements are detached from reality and serve only to undermine the positive atmosphere achieved through consensus between the leaders of both nations.

"The Turkish Armed Forces pose no threat to those who do not threaten them; however, they possess the capability and determination to neutralize any danger to our nation. We reaffirm that, as in the past, any attempts to strike Türkiye will be unsuccessful, both now and in the future," Aktürk added.
