Haluk Görgün, the head of the Turkish Defence Industry, has said that Türkiye has started work on 6th generation combat aircraft.
“Very soon we will be flying our 5th generation KAAN military aircraft. Mass production will begin in 2028. We have already started work on a 6th generation combat aircraft with built-in artificial intelligence,” TRT Haber quotes Görgün as saying.
According to him, 2024 will be a year of surprises in which all previously launched projects will be integrated into the armed forces.
“On January 19, we will hold a ceremony for the delivery of our ship platforms with the participation of our president. The acceptance of the frigate TCG Istanbul (F-515) and the resupply ship TCG DERYA (A-1590), the second largest ship after TCG Anadolu, will take place,” Görgün noted.
“Let’s hope that the first flight of the Kaan National Combat Aircraft will take place in the near future,” said the head of the department.
He noted that to date, KAAN has conducted ejection seat testing, full-length static testing, static control surface testing, landing gear lowering testing, avionics testing in the systems integration laboratory, fuel testing and engine starting testing.
The KAAN will be a low radar signature aircraft with a fuselage made of composite materials capable of absorbing radar waves, equipped with modern firing systems and a dual-function radar.
Also, serial production of the ASELFLIR-500 cameras developed by us for unmanned aerial vehicles will begin.
“We export more than 230 types of our products to 185 countries,” concluded Haluk Görgün.
