Türkiye continues to integrate long-range and high-precision munitions into Azerbaijani warplanes, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Twitter page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.
The integrated ammunition complies with NATO standards. Earlier, the integration of a laser guidance kit on the Su-25 was carried out.
The Wing Guidance Kit (WGC) developed by TÜBİTAK-SAGE turns the existing unguided 500-pound MK-82 and 1000-pound MK-83 general-purpose bombs into intelligent long-range air-to-ground ammunition.
Thanks to the WGC, the MK-82 and MK-83 bombs are able to hit accurately in all weather conditions. The aircraft can safely perform combat missions without entering enemy air defence zones. The prototype AGM used by the Turkish Air Force is the American AGM-154 JSOW.
Using WGC aircraft, the bomb will have a maximum range of 60 nautical miles (110+ km) when launched from high altitude and a maximum capacity of 20 nautical miles (37+ km) from low altitude.
The integration of the laser guidance kit on the Su-25 has previously been carried out, and TÜBİTAK SAGE and ASELSAN are actively involved in the modernization of Su-25’s firepower, having equipped it with the QFAB-250-LG aircraft bomb. The QFAB-250-LG is essentially an analogue of the ASELSAN Paveway LGK (Laser Guidance Kit) adapted for use with the FAB-250 bombs, which are shaped differently from the standard Mk82 general-purpose bombs of NATO.
In addition to the QFAB-250-LG and WGC, the Su-25 plans to use the small-diameter bombs of the TOLUN family using the SADAK-4T and SADAK-2T tiered bombs. Given the payload capacity of the Su-25, up to 20-24 TOLUNs can be carried in a single flight, enhancing the attack aircraft's firepower.
