Turkmen president stresses importance of TURKSOY

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent sincere congratulations to the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Organization, which is being celebrated on July 12.

“Over the past period, Turkmenistan and TURKSOY have established constructive cooperation. Our interaction meets the goals of further strengthening the bonds of friendship and positive partnership between the Turkic peoples, united by a common history and spiritual and cultural values. Turkmenistan will continue to actively cooperate with TURKSOY,” the message of the head of state emphasizes, Turkmenportal reports.

Taking this pleasant opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished Sultan Raev and the staff of the Secretariat of the International Organization of Turkic Culture good health, happiness and success in their work, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports today.

The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) is an international organization that unites the Turkic countries, the main goal of which is positioning "cooperation between the Turkic peoples for the preservation, development and transfer to future generations of common material and cultural monuments of the Turkic peoples."

It was formed on July 12, 1993, in Almaty, when the Ministers of Culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan signed an agreement on the establishment of the Organization for the Joint Development of Turkic Culture and Art.

In 2009, the organization received its current name - TURKSOY. TURKSOY has six member states.
